Monday Night Football 2019 Live: Monday Night Football 2019 Live Stream, History looms large for the 49ers when they return from an early bye to host the Cleveland Browns in San Francisco on Monday Night Football. The Pittsburgh Steelers (0-3) and Cincinnati Bengals (0-3) are taking their bitter, Pittsburgh’s side in Week 5, longstanding rivalry to primetime when they meet on Monday Night Football to cap off Week 4 of the 2019 NFL season.
The Rams lost 30-29 in Seattle on Thursday Night Football, sliding to 3-2, while the Seahawks improved to 4-1 and blew the division wide open.
The 49ers’ blistering start to the season is even more remarkable considering Jimmy Garoppolo is yet to rediscover the form he showed before rupturing his ACL last season.
The former New England patriots quarterback has completed 58 of his 84 passes so far this season, throwing for 739 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions.
While the figures may be relatively modest, Garoppolo could become only the sixth quarterback since 1990 to win 12 of his first 14 home starts in the NFL.
His Browns counterpart, Baker Mayfield, has also endured a difficult start to the season. The second-year quarterback has completed 82 of his 139 passes, throwing for 1,147 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions.
At 3-0, the 49ers have made their best start to the season in 21 years and could move to 4-0 for the first time since 1990, when they raced to a 10-0 start led by Joe Montana and Jerry Rice.Looking that far ahead may be unwise for San Francisco, but optimism in the Bay Area is rightly growing after a promising start. The 49ers began the season as a 5/1 shot to win a first NFC West title since 2012 but are now second-favorite at 2/1, just behind the Los Angeles Rams.
Mayfield has struggled behind a porous offensive line but there were signs of improvement in Week 4, as he passed for 342 yards and a touchdown as the Browns won 40-25 in Baltimore and finally lived up to the hype.
During the offseason, much was made of the offensive weapons the Browns have surrounded Mayfield with—namely Odell Beckham Jr.
Cleveland, however, began the season with two losses in the first three games, both of which came at home—against Tennessee in Week 1 and against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.
The win in Baltimore last week offered a glimpse of what the Browns can do and, more importantly, moved Cleveland joint-top of the AFC North alongside the Ravens at 2-2.
“We know how good we can be,” Mayfield was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
“That’s the frustrating part about how we started. We just need to do our job and that’s what guys did this week. Here’s all you need to know ahead of Monday.”The undefeated 49ers have plenty to prove when they host Cleveland for Week 5 of “Monday Night Football,” the Browns’ second Monday night game of 2019 but the first primetime billing for the only NFC team yet to
Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland will have the call from the booth. McFarland was a sideline analyst last year, but moved into the booth when Jason Witten returned to the Dallas Cowboys following a stint in broadcasting that was not particularly well-received.
Lisa Salters returns for her eighth season as sideline reporter, and John Perry is the crew’s new officiating analyst for 2019.
lose this year.
San Francisco had an early bye last week, and before that beat three teams of questionable quality; a 31-17 Week 1 win over Tampa Bay, then a 41-17 shellacking of Cincinnati and, finally, a 24-20 win over Pittsburgh. Monday night’s game offers an opportunity to back up those results against a mercurial Browns team.Cleveland enters the game at .500, balancing ugly losses to the Titans and Rams with a 23-3 beatdown of the Jets and, most recently, an impressive 40-25 win over the Ravens.
Running backs Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert have led San Francisco’s third-ranked offense entering Week 5, with each averaging better than 5 yards per carry.
The Browns, meanwhile, seemed to find a new solution on offense against Baltimore. Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw 30 passes, and running back Nick Chubb had 20 carries for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns.
San Francisco will be looking to show they’re more than just a product of their schedule, while Cleveland needs to show the consistency that’s been absent through the first four weeks.
